Belgian Waffles

Belgian Waffles

Ingredients:

2 egg whites

pinch of salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/3 cup (75g) Røros Butter

6.6 oz buttermilk

6.6 oz water

1 standard packet dry yeast

8.8 oz (250g) plain flour

melted butter to grease the pan

Directions:

  1. Whisk together egg yolks, salt, sugar and vanilla extract.
  2. Stir in melted butter and buttermilk
  3. Mix together the yeast and water (room temperature)
  4. Mix in the flour, mix until fully combined and lump free.
  5. Let the batter swell for an hour.
  6. Beat egg whites until stiff and carefully fold them into the batter using a spatula
  7. Grease the waffle iron with butter, and cook the waffles until golden.
